Lips
Personalized lip enhancement using carefully selected filler and conservative technique to support shape, symmetry, border, or volume goals.
What can lip filler change?
Depending on anatomy and product, it may add volume, define the border, support symmetry, or improve selected perioral lines.
How long does swelling last?
Swelling and bruising are common and often most noticeable early. The result should be judged after swelling settles.
Is lip filler permanent?
No. Hyaluronic-acid filler is temporary, and duration varies with product, dose, movement, metabolism, and individual response.
What symptoms need urgent attention?
Unusual or severe pain, pale or dusky skin, coolness, worsening discoloration, or any vision or neurologic symptom requires immediate evaluation.
What Is Lip Filler?
Lip filler is an injectable treatment commonly performed with hyaluronic-acid gel to add or restore selected volume and refine lip shape. The plan may focus on the border, body of the lip, Cupid’s bow, symmetry, or surrounding lines.
The goal should be based on your anatomy and preferences—not a one-size-fits-all shape.
Lip Filler vs. Lip Flip
Filler adds physical volume and structure. A lip flip uses a neuromodulator to temporarily relax selected upper-lip muscle fibers so the lip may roll slightly outward. They create different effects and have different risks.
Product selection, injection depth, amount, and placement influence the result. More filler is not always better, and staged treatment may be recommended.
What to Expect
Your provider assesses lip movement, dental support, symmetry, prior filler, cold-sore history, medications, allergies, and goals. Temporary swelling, bruising, tenderness, firmness, lumps, asymmetry, itching, or redness can occur.
Early swelling can make the lips appear larger or uneven. Allow the recommended healing period before judging the final result. Hyaluronic-acid filler is temporary and may require maintenance.
Important Risks and Candidacy
Treatment may be postponed for active infection, sores, dental infection or recent dental work, pregnancy or breastfeeding, or other clinical concerns. Disclose allergies, immune conditions, medications, supplements, and previous filler.
Unintentional injection into a blood vessel is rare but can cause tissue damage, vision abnormalities, blindness, or stroke. Seek immediate evaluation for unusual pain, blanching or dusky skin, coolness, vision change, weakness, facial drooping, or difficulty speaking.
