What Is Dysport?

Dysport is a prescription injectable containing abobotulinumtoxinA. It temporarily reduces muscle activity and is FDA approved for the temporary improvement of moderate to severe glabellar lines—the frown lines between the eyebrows—in adults younger than 65.

Any additional aesthetic use should be discussed with a qualified provider and may be off-label.

How Dysport Is Planned

Your provider evaluates facial anatomy, muscle strength, expression, asymmetry, treatment history, and desired degree of movement. Dysport, BOTOX Cosmetic, and Daxxify are distinct products; their potency units are not interchangeable.

The right option is not determined by brand name alone. Prior response, goals, timing, and the treatment area all matter.

Your Appointment and Results

After cleansing and assessment, small injections are placed into the selected muscles. Temporary redness, swelling, tenderness, bruising, headache, or asymmetry can occur.

Some patients notice a change within several days, and the effect continues to settle. Duration varies by dose, anatomy, metabolism, treatment area, and individual response.

Important Safety Information

Disclose pregnancy or breastfeeding, infection at the injection site, allergies, neuromuscular conditions, swallowing or breathing problems, prior botulinum toxin treatment, and all medicines and supplements.

Botulinum toxin effects can rarely spread beyond the injection area. Seek urgent care for difficulty swallowing, speaking, or breathing; generalized weakness; or significant vision or voice changes.
