Dermaplaning
Manual exfoliation removing surface buildup and fine facial hair for smoother-looking skin.
Will hair grow thicker?
No. Dermaplaning does not change the follicle.
Does it hurt?
Most patients describe gentle scraping.
With active acne?
Usually avoided over inflamed or open lesions.
How often?
Timing depends on sensitivity and the treatment plan.
What Is Dermaplaning?
Dermaplaning uses a sterile surgical blade at a controlled angle to remove dead surface cells and fine vellus hair, creating temporary smoothness and helping makeup apply more evenly.
What It Cannot Do
It does not permanently reduce hair, change regrowth thickness, treat deep acne scars, or replace collagen-stimulating procedures.
What to Expect
Temporary redness, sensitivity, dryness, or breakouts can occur. Daily sunscreen is important after exfoliation.
Candidacy
Active inflamed acne, infection, open lesions, impaired healing, or significant irritation may make dermaplaning inappropriate.
SkinHealth uses the standard spelling “Dermaplaning”; Square currently shows “Dermaplanning.”
